Bernie Kirrane
Bernie has twenty years’ experience in learning and development,
and is a Director of the Development Alliance. Since 1992 she has
been working as a consultant to a broad range of public and private
sector organisations in the UK and other parts of Europe. Her experience
prior to this includes operational management as well as development
roles, latterly as the Manager of Training and Development for the
International Technologies Division of American Express.
Bernie currently works with clients in software development, financial
services, construction, transport, retail, the media and housing.
She specializes in building personal effectiveness, and in leadership
development for middle and senior managers, through 1:1 coaching and
large/small group interventions. She has extensive experience in interpersonal
skills development, and in helping her clients to identify and modify
unproductive thinking and behavioural patterns.
Recent work includes:
- the design and delivery of a personal development
programme involving 360 feedback, psychometrics and 1:1 coaching
to enhance performance
for senior managers across Europe
- running a self-managed learning
programme for middle managers in a large UK retail organization,
including the use of a wide range
of psychometric questionnaires, 1:1 coaching, small group
work and on-the-job learning
- running leadership development programmes for
employees from
Europe and the Middle East for a global financial services
organisation
- designing
and delivering a broad-ranging development programme, including
development centres, group training modules and learning
sets for senior executives
Bernie’s academic background is in psychology followed by the
highly practical Manchester Business School MBA. She is qualified
and experienced in the use of a variety of psychometric tools. She
speaks French and Spanish, and is a member of the Chartered Institute
of Personnel and Development.
Special Interests
Bernie’s special interests are personal effectiveness, leadership
development and work-life balance.
